The Dolomites
As a teenager growing up in Ireland I spent a lot of my Summers in France. Unknown to me at the time, one of these trips would change my life. I was on an exchange to learn French with a family that lived outside Paris and the family I was staying with drove us to the French Alps for four weeks. Each day we hiked all over the mountains, got up in the middle of the night to check out the stars through the telescope, and drunk good wine (when in France..). This led me to explore a connection with nature that has translated into every aspect of my current travels. Being in The Dolomites, in Northern Italy, over the past few days has reminded me of where it all began and gives me a greater appreciation of the role we play as parents in fostering a sense of appreciation in our kids.
