MILL DISTRICT · HEALDSBURG, CALIFORNIA
A Multi-Year Development Story
Since 2017, Kim Carroll has worked alongside Mill District as the project has evolved from a historic industrial site into a new residential, hospitality and cultural district in downtown Healdsburg.
The collaboration spans photography and film, documenting not only the finished experience, but the life of the project as it has taken shape: architecture, people, community, hospitality, events and the changing landscape of the site.
SCOPE OF WORK
Over a multi-year collaboration, Kim documented Mill District from its earliest pre-construction stages through development, opening and activation, creating an evolving visual archive of the project and the community taking shape around it.

BEFORE THE DISTRICT
Kim began photographing the site before construction started, documenting the original mill, its structures and the traces of its industrial past. Those early photographs became the beginning of a visual archive that has continued as Mill District has taken shape.
