Rite of Passage
Rite of Passage was photographed at Lambert Bridge in Dry Creek Valley, near Healdsburg in Northern California's Sonoma County, using medium-format film on a Hasselblad 500CM. The historic steel truss bridge has carried generations of travelers across Dry Creek, connecting the surrounding agricultural communities while gradually becoming part of the landscape itself.
For Kim, the bridge represents more than a crossing. Its enduring structure speaks to the relationship between the places we build and the landscapes they inhabit. The photograph reflects his interest in the familiar landmarks we pass without a second thought, where history, memory, and the passage of time become inseparable from the land.
Originally created for WEST OF MORNING — Analog Landscapes of Northern California, Kim’s inaugural exhibition at fís Gallery, this Studio Edition offers another way to collect the work while preserving the character and craftsmanship of the original photograph.
Each print is produced on Hahnemühle fine art paper, presented with a 3-inch archival white mat, and finished in a handcrafted solid wood frame with a 1.6-inch-wide profile, made in Germany. Available in black, white, or natural oak, each Studio Edition arrives ready to hang.
