Titanfall is a science-fiction first-person shooter video game set across the war-torn worlds of the Frontier, pairing fast-moving pilots with massive mechanized Titans.
For the score, the composer, editor and several collaborators came to Kim’s backyard studio in Healdsburg, California, for several days of recording sessions, with a little wine tasting mixed in along the way.
The sessions ranged from delicate acoustic passages to heavy electric guitars and atmospheric textures, drawing on an unusually broad collection of instruments including bowed banjo, mandolin and bazouki.
For Kim, the range was what made the sessions particularly memorable: one project calling on so many different sides of his playing, all recorded from his own backyard studio.
