Both Sides Now
Both Sides Now was photographed at Wright’s Beach on the Sonoma Coast, California, using medium format film on a Hasselblad 500CM. From the first time Kim encountered this stretch of coastline, it felt deeply familiar. The green headlands, rugged edge of the Pacific, and gorse along the coast carried him back to Ireland and the landscapes of his childhood.
Though separated by an ocean, the two places seemed to echo one another. Both Sides Now grew from that connection: the unexpected recognition of home in a landscape thousands of miles away, and the sense that two very different places can somehow belong to the same memory.
Originally created for WEST OF MORNING — Analog Landscapes of Northern California, Kim’s inaugural exhibition at fís Gallery, this Studio Edition brings the photograph into a made-to-order format for the home.
Each print is produced on Hahnemühle fine art paper, presented with a 3-inch archival white mat, and finished in a handcrafted solid wood frame made in Germany. Each Studio Edition arrives ready to hang.
