Holding Fast

Sale price$625.00

Holding Fast was photographed on Tomales Bay near Inverness, California, using medium format film on a Hasselblad 500CM. Known locally as the Point Reyes Shipwreck, the weathered vessel was once a working fishing boat. Its owner brought it ashore with plans to restore it, but the work was never completed, and the boat remained on the mudflats for decades, gradually becoming part of the landscape.

For Kim, the abandoned boat became something more than a remnant of its working life. Listing against the horizon yet still holding its place, it speaks to endurance: the marks left by time, the inevitability of change, and the instinct to remain even as the world around us moves on. Holding Fast is less about what has been lost than what remains.

Originally created for WEST OF MORNING — Analog Landscapes of Northern California, Kim’s inaugural exhibition at fís Gallery, this Studio Edition brings the photograph into a made-to-order format for the home.

Each print is produced on Hahnemühle fine art paper, presented with a 3-inch archival white mat, and finished in a handcrafted solid wood frame made in Germany. Each Studio Edition arrives ready to hang.
