Pass above. Passage below.

Photographed along the Sonoma Coast near Jenner, Passage above. Passage below. looks toward Arched Rock, a sandstone sea stack shaped over time by the Pacific. A small flock crosses the open sky above while the ocean moves through the natural arch below, two passages unfolding within the same landscape.

The photograph considers movement across very different measures of time: the fleeting passage of birds overhead and the continual movement of water through the rock below. What appears at first to be a quiet coastal scene reveals a landscape in constant motion, shaped by forces both momentary and enduring.

Originally created for WEST OF MORNING — Analog Landscapes of Northern California, Kim’s inaugural exhibition at fís Gallery, this Studio Edition brings the photograph into a made-to-order format for the home.

Each print is produced on Hahnemühle fine art paper, presented with a 3-inch archival white mat, and finished in a handcrafted solid wood frame made in Germany. Each Studio Edition arrives ready to hang.
