Still Point
Still Point was photographed along Tomales Bay near Point Reyes using medium format film on a Hasselblad 500CM. At low tide, the water retreats across the bay, exposing a broad expanse of tidal flat. A solitary building and pier sit almost suspended between the exposed shoreline and an immense coastal sky.
Kim was drawn to the quiet balance of the scene. Everything around it suggests movement — the changing tide, passing clouds, wind and weather — yet the small structure seems utterly fixed within the landscape. Still Point grew from that contrast: the idea that even within constant change, there can be a place of stillness.
Originally created for WEST OF MORNING — Analog Landscapes of Northern California, Kim’s inaugural exhibition at fís Gallery, this Studio Edition brings the photograph into a made-to-order format for the home.
Each print is produced on Hahnemühle fine art paper, presented with a 3-inch archival white mat, and finished in a handcrafted solid wood frame made in Germany. Each Studio Edition arrives ready to hang.
