Return

Return was photographed along the Sonoma Coast between Bodega Bay and Jenner, California, using medium format film on a Hasselblad 500CM. Along this stretch of coast, dark rock formations rise from the Pacific as wave after wave moves toward shore, breaks, recedes, and begins again.

For Kim, Return is about that rhythm. The endless movement of the ocean became a reflection on the patterns of our own lives: the things we leave and come back to, the experiences that repeat in different forms, and the familiar places, people, and parts of ourselves we find ourselves returning to over time. The landscape may change, but the movement continues.

Originally created for WEST OF MORNING — Analog Landscapes of Northern California, Kim’s inaugural exhibition at fís Gallery, this Studio Edition brings the photograph into a made-to-order format for the home.

Each print is produced on Hahnemühle fine art paper, presented with a 3-inch archival white mat, and finished in a handcrafted solid wood frame made in Germany. Each Studio Edition arrives ready to hang.
